The Music department offers individual voice and piano instruction.  All classes are scheduled on going Sept-June, with continued classes throughout the summer.

We also offer professional voice training which teaches students to treat their voice as an instrument, which requires maintenance and tuning. Students will be coached on proper pitch, breathing techniques, and how to project their voice effectively and safely.

Group singing   –  Learning to sing as a part of a choral ensemble also enhances teamwork skills and discipline as students learn to work together to achieve harmony in their performance. Rehearsals and practices encourage self-discipline toward achieving a goal, thus enhancing self-esteem and confidence.

Voice and piano classes are offered in a group setting or private solo class by scheduled appointment. Any students interested in private classes must call to schedule appointment times. Classes are offered all year with two performances scheduled.

Miss Stacy’s vocal coaching focuses on building a strong foundation for the beginning singer:

*Learning habits to protect the voice

*Ear training

*Breath support and placement

*Positioning of the tongue, mouth and jaw

*Developing good posture.

Group classes offer the opportunity to explore singing in a choir-like setting, while mastering songs in the appropriate range for their age. These lessons are a good way for beginners to experience singing and work with other students

who are also beginning their musical journey. In group settings, students develop rhythmic skills as well

as improve skills of cooperation and peer interaction.

Private classes are available for students who wish to learn at his or her own pace. In this setting, the teacher is able to

focus completely on that individual student’s strengths and weaknesses.

Being a mom herself, Miss Stacy teaches using the “Mom-Centric” Suzuki Method.  She fully believes in the combination of a music teaching method and a philosophy embracing the total development of the child: “Character first and ability second.” Students will learn in a nurturing environment with expected parental involvement, directing practice at home.

Maestro Minis :  An educational music and movement program for children, including babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, which creates confident and happy learners.

Our music classes enhance children’s development while they are having fun. Singing, dancing, playing percussion instruments and musical games stimulate the children’s creativity and imagination. Miss Stacy encourages parents to participate in class and sends families home with lots of ideas on how to keep the learning going at home!

Children participate in a carefully planned and sequential program, with age-specific curriculum. As well as introducing musical concepts such as beat, rhythm, dynamics, form and notation, our program develops the whole child by encouraging children’s speech development, listening skills, social skills and physical skills.
